Thank you to everyone who attended the MFP Annual General Meeting in Fortrose on 19 November. The AGM minute will available here on the website in due course.
Sinclair Young has retired as the Moray Firth Partnership Chair after almost 2 years in the role. Sinclair has been an excellent Chair and we are extremely grateful for all his hard work and guidance. His determination to propel the 2007 Moray Firth Flotilla to fruition, having originally conceived the idea, provided one of the highlights of the Highland Year of Culture celebrations. We are delighted that he has agreed to remain on the Board of Directors and look forward to the continued benefit of his knowledge and experience.
Maureen Macmillan was unanimously elected as the new MFP Chair at the Board meeting following the AGM, becoming the first woman to take the Partnership helm. Maureen is a former MSP and member of the Environment Committee that instigated enquiries into the marine & coastal environment. She was elected to the MFP Board of Directors in February. We wish her all the very best in her new role
Wildlife
About 50 people were treated to "Fin, Fur and Feathers", a presentation on
Moray Firth coastal wildlife by renowned photographer Charlie Phillips, in Fortrose Community Theatre on 19 November. Charlie has spent years observing wildlife and gave some fascinating insights into the behaviour of many of our marine and coastal species. We would like to thank Charlie for a great presentation. Examples of Charlie’s work can be seen on his website - www.charliephillipsimages.co.uk.
Thanks also to the Black Isle Leisure Centre for use of the Fortrose Community Theatre facilities. This is a great venue, with the options of (retractable) theatre seating, or an open space, making it ideal for a number of different uses.

Gansey Project...this project focuses on the tradition of gansey hand knitting among the Moray Firth’s fishing communities as a way of introducing the craft – and the area’s wider fishing heritage – to new audiences. It has huge scope to involve a range of different participants and audiences in different ways and to provide a lasting legacy and continuing socio-economic benefits for the Moray Firth area. Project pages will feature soon.

The Moray Firth Trail Explore and enjoy the Moray Firth coast and heritage. See our separate website with details of walks and what there is to see and do.
North Sea Trail Day -2008 More than twenty people joined the two walks at Balintore in Easter Ross on Sunday 7 September, to celebrate North Sea Trail Day. These were led by Iain Davidson, and quite a few took the chance to try out Nordic walking. It was a great afternoon. There are various established walking groups and Step it Up groups around the Moray Firth, as well as a Highland Nordic Walking Group, so there are plenty of opportunities to have fun and meet new people while enjoying the outdoors.
